For those who took part in the events over the Easter weekend - thank you and I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did despite the changeable weather. For those who didn't get over you missed:
A steam hauled trip along the old Peel line for a brewery tour.
A mixed train to Port Erin and back.
A 'Pie and mash' dinner train.
A vintage bus tour of closed lines and stations.
Staged photography with run pasts, double headers and double departures from Douglas.
Shed, signal box and museum tours.
Plus the regular two train service on the IMR, special workings and events on the Manx Electric Railway.

If the photos below have whetted your appetite the next big enthusiast event is the Manx Heritage Transport Festival from 27th to 31st July. Details in the railway press and at www.rail.im or on facebook isleofmanrailways .

I thought the Peel line was closed and lifted?

IIRC the Peel line is still extant for a short distance out of Douglas. Effectively a long siding.

That explains it, then. What a shame the rest of it has gone.

The destruction of SMR #3 is shocking but fortunately no-one was injured. The railway inspector's report should make interesting reading.

Absolutely heartbreaking, and very concerning from a safety point of view.

If only these events were ever properly advertised with rosters issued in advance of which locos running on which trains, a few more of us would book flights and visit!

Do you really need a roster when theres only 4 locos running out of 8, 10, 12 and 13? Its not even like 8s been a rarity recently.

Yes, because didn't realise until now down to 4,knew that No4 was OOs but not sure if 11 or 15 were back in traffic.

Last time visited scored No1 .8 and 12 are required.

No 11's boiler arrived back from the SVR a few weeks ago and no 15's returned to Bridgnorth on the same trailer.
