47830 with GWR stock passes the WSR siding. Fantastic to see a 47 in BR green on the mainline, only one I've seen is North Star on the WSR.

But who was the Bear? A pic showing Billy the Bear sat at the General Manager's desk might have started a rumour :)

It is a running line and is fully signalled for passenger trains, just like the lines down to Exeter ! It is most certainly NOT a siding. Actually the stretch shown in the picture belongs to Network Rail.

Now that the work at Williton is done , when is the up starter going to be moved to the ramp area or thereabouts? To take advantage of the straight rails through the platform.

The existing starter is to be retained where it is to allow up trains to run in without closing the gates when they will need to wait for a time. An additional starter is to be provided the Taunton side of the gates to allow the platform to be used when that is the convenient place to stop the train.

Any news on the blood & custard set of coaches please. I know that 4346, 5030, 9227 have been done, but have any more been sorted or in the process of being done.

I'm only guessing here, but I know 4875 is in the works being converted to a wheelchair accessible coach, and it is dual-braked, so it would appear to be a likely candidate.

Thank you Mr Monkton. It would make sense if 4875 did gain blood & custard livery. I have a feeling 4876 was overhauled recently, so would not need repainting for a while, and 4884 is vacuum braked only, so unless 4875 is done in blood & custard, it could be a while before that set would get the wheelchair coach done.

Judging from my last visit TSO 4260 is the only coach left now with a BR seat moquette, 4599 had lost its "trojan" moquette in favour of the dark blue/ purple "herringbone" moquette. It will feel strange once 4260 gets done, as I have seen "trojan" moquette in MK1 coaches all my life.

It's still planned to be running.

This Sunday, 24th April, the DEPG have requested a loaded test run for D1010 'Western Campaigner'. It will leave Bishops Lydeard at 1105 for Minehead, and return from there at 1320. It will run as ecs, ie. no passengers.

The fact that you refer to me as Mr Monkton gets me worried - are you one of my former school pupils?!

I've worked as on-train crew for 12 years so I've spent a lot of time in the coaches, but I must say I've never taken a lot of notice of what is on the seats!
