It's getting exciting. So many variables...

    Will it stop at Preston
    Will the coal be combustible
Will there be a box on the back
Will the Carlisle Signalman adhere to the plan there
Will the coaching stock be watered

Does it get any better than this???

    Yes.
Same as last week and the WCR firemen managed to keep a good head of steam with it.
    Probably not.
    ?????
Ask Virgin, it's their station and therefore they will do it, or not....

    Yes
Yes - it will be loaded at Crewe.
    No
    Probably
Yes, if the train staff make it happen

Seriously. With over 300 Scot miles, this is one of those trips for enthusiasts not to miss. It tends to be the kind of thing that only the RTC attempts so all credit to them for staying the course and also, in advance to the crews for what will be a longish day.

No. The ORR restrictions on train weight seem to have made this impossible for steam haulage. Top and tail diesel hauled specials continue. AN

Glorious morning for a bit of filming ! A shame the fast line was out of action for all traffic from Hartford to Acton Bridge ! Anyway, 46100 passes Hartford & Acton Bridge. Hope you enjoy.

But Ralph, how many lumps of coal were in the tender, how big were they, and did the fireman sleep ok last night? I think we should be told!

Don't know about you but I'm convinced I saw a steam loco in the shape of 46100 on the front of the train and no box on the back.
