I hear it's 44871 with 46100 to Penzance and 44871 will also be going to Wick, but I don't think she will actually be working the train all the way from Penzance to Wick.......

RTC website quotes 44871 on days 1 and 2 and the appearance of three Royal Scots including Leander.

Nigel was still hoping 46115 would be available.......but there is always 48151/? for the Coast etc

Ralph has very good contacts !!! Normally more uptodate........ There was also some debate whether the 5 was needed Vic to Exeter.....

However,I posted to emphasise the positive news that 46100 has just passed gauging and that Cornwall looked positive!
I'm really looking forward to the Duchess on the N+W and the s/b Highland mainline.
I'll leave others to update but please, try to keep positive- I found it difficult to post imagining there would be
'Clever' comments or unpleasant anti RTC stuff. I know several people who WANT to update NP BUT need to know it doesn't trigger anti WCRC/NR/RTC comments as they have friends who rely on them for their incomes
My information was based on a conversation with Nigel at 2pm- many many things may be inaccurate but
It's the best information he had!!!!

I'm on the whole trip with my wife so please say Hello ( no ear bending/suggestions please- we are full paying customers celebrating a very special birthday!!!)

    Best wishes Ray

Is day three unchanged ? Is it still the plan for a Duchess over the Marches ?

If anyone is negative they really need treatment, nowhere else in the world could a show like this be put on. We should all be thankful and appreciate the effort that's gone into it.

The GB is a showcase event for both WCRC and the RTC. It's hard to imagine that either company does anything less than their best to make it happen as planned. But with the curve ball that is Network Rail, you sometimes never can tell.

You can't miss what you've never seen Henry. The London Exeter leg is now worth going out for .
I'm tempted to slog up to Inverness for the far north line but cant really justify it.

  13. I presume it hasn't been confirmed whether loco's will run TF to Penzance on day 1 and then run from Penzance on day 2?

    Many thanks for this, @RayMason
It's the Great Britain - it wouldn't be the same without a few last-minute dramas.

    Hooray!

Nigel has said that before. This time he probably means it, and I'd be very surprised if there's one next year, but give it a few years.... maybe? ;)

Try reading RTC website-it might be up to date and accurate(apart from the Leander description).

Perhaps not "confirmed", but @RayMason wrote "46100 Vic - Ply plus 45407 ... Locos t/f LE to Pnz" which I take to mean that the train is steam hauled to Plymouth, then diesel to Penzance. The steam locos will turn and service, then follow light engine, tender-first later on.

  17. Might be? :)

Ian Riley confirms 46100 and 44871 to and from Penzance.

Ian also comments that 44871 makes it all the way to Wick.
