I was at Crewe to see it on the way to Shrewsbury, and ended up taking that short leg, had to sit at the buffet as once again the train was full. That's the last three I've been on all full, Royal Scot and Leander must have some attraction.

Nice shot Fred......and what a coincidence.
I thought about going out for this, and picked my spot......that very same bridge at Winwick!!
In the end something else cropped up and I didn't make it, so thanks for sharing.

Sounded in good voice today, though to say it performed well on the gradients would not be accurate, as the box did seem to be taking more than it's weight. A shame really that the diesel was needed as it was only load nine !

Steam into Shropshire. Didn't have to travel far for this one.
Between Wrenbury and Whitchurch on the way south in high hazy sunshine. And passing Yorton and Clive on the way back by which time the sun had all but gone.

My pleasure; I know that sometimes domestic issues (usually involving the spouse) prevent lineside activities so I hope they can share the pleasure by seeing scenes that they were unable to.

Couldn't see any heads out of windows, presumably that rule is still being actively enforced? A real shame if so and reason to prevent me travelling on any main line specials for the foreseeable.

To some extent, me too. But you will be amazed at how many videos of recent steam tours clearly show people at the windows. The rule is clearly not being enforced in its totality.

On the Scot Commemorative on the restricted clearance section we were not only instructed to be away from all windows and vestibules, but seated if at all possible.

However, on other sections people were allowed to stand at windows so long as they didn't put heads out. A gentleman in our coach was told this specifically by someone senior + stood from Carlisle to Carnforth as a result. Others were being monitored closely by stewards but not asked to move back to seats. A number of times passengers were warned over the tannoy to be sensible as tours were under scrutiny by network rail and 'other agencies'. It would seem a compromise is being met so long as people don't abuse it.

I must also say that you didn't need to be at a window to have your hearing damaged bt 46100 on the Commemorative!
