Pity the could not have shackled Braunton (or whatever she is called today) up behind the Five before they set off for Bristol!

That's probably why they've decided to start late :)

I had to leave Crewe at 2.30, the diesel had been coupled up since 1.45, so no idea what the delay is.

Just seen a clip of this going through Totnes on Facebook.
Someone described the thing on the back as a "Modern age fullbrake"!

Been announced on train that 46233 has failed (piston) out of service for 2 months. 46115 to replace it next week.

Edinburgh to Inverness via Perth. No paths between Dundee and Aberdeen for 60mph.

Is this the first time a Scot has been to Cornwall? A friend believes they only made it to Plymouth in the 1948 loco exchanges.

46100 passing Keyham (suburb of Plymouth) at lunchtime. Scheduled to pass at 1215, I was able to nip out of work at lunchtime as the station is only across the road from one of the dockyard gates!

Be amazed if 46115 shows it's face as it's still in bits and needs a Test run before it goes anywhere !

AFAIK Plymouth was the western limit for the 1948 exchanges on the GWML. Don't think Cornwall was involved at all.

Not a bad day today, all things considered. Good shots at Burngullow, Coombe Fishacre (Hi Liam!) and Westleigh, and even a bit of sun at Coombe Fishacre. I've driven through hail, sleet and very heavy rain, but not actually got wet while waiting for the train. 46100 was working hard enough to lift the exhaust well clear of the loco and making all the right noises, so I'm pretty happy. I hope the "party atmosphere" on board is continuing! First shot tomorrow will be Narroways Jn, if I can fight my way through Bristol's rush hour traffic.

According to the professional timers on board, there was sadly diesel assistance on Hemerdon but not on Dainton.

At Dainton the curvature of the line and the sharp increase in.gradient close to the summit resulted in a.sharp drop in speed, but the.summit was still breached with no assistance

Both climbs nice and noisy too :)
