By the way - I hear from a usually well-informed source that Leander will work Moss End to Oxenholme tomorrow and Carnforth to Doncaster on Wednesday. This seems quite sensible to me, keeping one loco in steam 2 days running.

Leander was highly doubtful today when I heard the rumour. You can't magic support crew out of thin air ;-)

Leander will be tomorrow(Wed), if it's Thurs it'll be a day late and miss the tour!!!

Around that time I started using a Sony WMD6C and metal cassette, I think this recording was done on a basic version of the WM, auto rec level and horrible things like that, I had a decent stereo mike, which unfortunately had its head knocked off by some branches at Bentham one day and I didn't notice till we got to Carlisle.

What's happened at Perth? Arrived half an hour early, left an hour late. Galatea at Mossend on time.

I think that should be Clachnaharry - nothing to do with Harry's clack valves but more to do with his stones.

Hope you are feeling good after the Black Isle Brewery

Possibly struggled watering the loco, Perth seems to suffer with low hydrant pressure. Had that problem on The North Briton and there were 2 locos to water!

Does anyone know if 45690 will lead the ECS out to Grange in the morning? If it is, I might be tempted to set my alarm early and go to see it.

    Thanks,
    James

Oh the elation when the braking problem was sorted. I found myself in the lucky position of Hilton Jnc Signal Box this afternoon with permission, to catch No. 44871 departing South through the tunnel. Having chased it all weekend, this shot I have to say stands out to me as one of those I'm unlikely to repeat again in such weather!

So while I've got numerous photos to edit, which won't really happen until next week (As I have a Merseyside holiday for the remainder of the week), here's my final shot of The Great Britain IX :

Unfortunately the GB has developed a fault at Oxenholme. When the guard of the FTPE came on the tannoy, he mentioned a hot box and Galatea is (quote) "to limp at a reduced speed to Carnforth".

Such a shame if it is Galatea that's got the problem, she's performed outstandingly well over re past few months. Hopefully it's nothing major, as she's been a reliable workhorse since the start of 2015.
