I assume that 45699 has a different top lamp bracket or something as she doesn't seem to like the headboard?

And here's another shot of the train at Starricks Farm this morning, great to catch up with a few other photters at this location today. If this is likely to be my last ever sighting of a GB tour, a big thank you from me to everyone involved over the years. There've been ups and downs, of course, but the magnificent sight of todays train climbing up towards Starricks will stay with me for a good while. I hope everyone on board has a great final day on the tour.

Agreed, however many who know apparently a great deal more than I do about operating on the mainline like to hint that operational reasons have nothing to do with the diesel being present and instead its just WCRC policy to give a 47 a grand old day out?

Perhaps it needed to come off before the Doncaster changeover as you wouldn't want to remove it from the top lamp bracket under the OHLE in order to put it on the lead Class 47.

    Regards,

    Dan

Impressed with RTC arranging the Sun to rise in the West for you, with that amount of influence, why the hell are they needing to shove everything around from the back, with a Box...

In the end, it was all rather good fun. I was pleased to meet the acquaintance of several NatPres members, as well as catch up with some old friends, and the routes were interesting and varied, and there was some pretty rare stuff going on.

The locomotives generally performed well when put to work, and so what if it was the LMS tour of Britain. Ambition is critical, yet who can predict what can happen in six months. They all did the best they could with the resources available.

Had a cracking few days up in Scotland meeting friends old and new and generally enjoying the whole spectacle provided to us by WCRC,Ian Riley and RTC once again (even if it is for the last time,or at least for now),as always a huge thanks to those that made it all happen, even in "difficult" circumstances. Even though reviews from passengers have been mixed I am sure people will look back and remember the 2016 tour in good regard in years to come,at the end of the day we got steam to Thurso, which is worth a 9 day trip to achieve in itself!

Some great images have already been posted and I'm sure there's many more to come from the crowd of photographers who chased the train (though there seemed to be less than previous GB's).

I've not yet managed to process all of my images yet but please find a few of my better ones below, with more to follow later this week.

    Thanks again to all involved.
