    Another one gone... :(

RE: The Heart of Wales 14th May 2016

With regards to your booking on The Heart of Wales on Saturday 14th May 2016 please be advised that this tour is being cancelled due to operational reasons. Our operating company West Coast Railways were late in submitting the bid into Network Rail for this tour and despite us making three requests to Network Rail they have refused to change their decision to reject this charter.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience this cancellation, which is outside of our control, may cause.

No I do not currently volunteer
Not mentioned explicitly, but a conspiracy theorist might wonder if that was why the bid was late in.

Been known for couple of weeks it may not run was told on Monday it's definitely cancelled, been known for some time that 48151 wouldn't be available, but the heart of wales trips have always seem to be no goers, over the last couple of years they have been postponed and postponed then finally cancelled.

Just so glad to have done this fantastic trip back in 2012, and really hope that it will happen again. I'm sure the cancellations can't be from lack of interest from punters like me.

Yes indeed !!!! And here proof, if indeed it were necessary, of just how good things could be once again. A joyous moment captured on Newport's Platform One that day as the "A Team" and the indomitable Riley Fives prepare to take charge of the northbound Central Wales Explorer. Can't say that I'm a huge fan of much of what RTC does, but this was truly a brilliant day all round !!
