I'd just rather have some exhaust, albeit drifting a bit, rather than none at all. Should only be a light wind so not too much obfuscation in prospect.

So we need 65% cut off and full regulator, that should throw it clear of the engine

We won't get that for long on that junction and curve!

I know I didn't expect they would throw the fire out of the chimney just for us, I assume from what you have said there is still a shot of the Mole Bridge off Mill Lane, I haven't been there for years

Epsom 5mph, near Bookham 5mph, Petersfield 15mph, all are on or just before climbs.
They are just a selection outbound, different coming back. To be fair I haven't looked at those too deeply.

Don't let's unpack this but the Petersfield speed restriction must be the underbridge at the country end of the station and not a platform issue. Either way this is a classic example of the fact that Network Rail doesn't maintain its infrastructure to anything other than a minimum standard nowadays.

So, all in all, a standard length train then although the P'mth Direct is rather challenging.

Epsom is always a bit of work - 1 in 100 just after the station for about a mile.

1653 from Southall to Wembley 1711, reverse, 1721 to Batersea yard, arrive 1748.
0909 off Batersea in the morning.
Network rail want the train to depart from platform 17. So a double reversal will probably be made.
Battersea - Voltaire road - Latchmere - Clapham

So the last time that a steam train started from Clapham Junction Platform 17 would have probably been in 1967 with the Kensington Olympia service for postal workers. Nearly fifty years on. Who'd have thought it!

15mph speed limit at Effingham junction? I am really REALLY surprised that NR have this route gauged for a Battle of West Country.

    Minimum.! :Hilarious:
If it was kept to the minimum there would be almost no restrictions.
