Popped along to Campbell road bridge. Lots of people braving the raining. Eastleigh station was packed with people waiting to see FS.

I filmed the train this morning on the climb near Upton Scudamore. The diesel was only ticking over and did not appear to be pushing at all. Well done West Coast.
Later in the day I was waiting at Salisbury station for Flying Scotsman to arrive with the ECS for the afternoon tour. The platforms were quickly filling and that was an hour before the departure time. So that I could guarantee a good view of the train I decided to go to the outskirts of the city. The roads were very busy around the station with the many people trying to park and hopefully get a glimpse of FS.
Despite the heavy rain every vantage point was crowded. I found a footbridge near Laverstock and was amazed how crowded it was there.
The many well wishers were so excited about seeing the train. The atmosphere was superb.
Take note Network Rail, everyone knew about the train and the timings. Well done to the BBC and Spire Radio. <BJ>

If everyone who went out to see FS donated one £1 to the NRM. I would think there would be enough money to cover the next overhaul.

Ludicrous scenes at Dean, a local press had reported a time of 14:00 out of Salisbury to do the afternoon tea loop, so they rock up early to get a good place. Ended up with NR and GWR staff trying to maintain order for over two hours and placate wet and angry punters and kids demanding to know where the Scotsman was

The staff on duty were brilliant, all volunteering, the Network Rail chopper was following the return rather than spotting issues!

I did the Salisbury Circuit with my 3 sons. Rather good, if not speedy.

Free Coffee & the cake wasn't bad...............

Two small boys in the oposit seats had the 'Royal Wave' off to a Tee

Apologies but i had camera in one hand, brolly in the other and phone in the third and it did look and sound mechanical, lots of steam from unusual places, and engine about 15 yards from platform. Mind I can see why they are loathe to bring coaches to a stop on platform these days!

Sooner this thing is mounted in York off the mainline the better, trespass or not its not worth someone getting injured going out for it, put it in York they can climb all over it there, cut the losses
