Departure and return times for these trips have been published on the Steam Dreams site and it seems that a handful of seats may still be available, especially in the evening. It appears that the late circular does not return to Victoria and drops off in the Clapham Junction area.

So for those who want timings look at Steam Dreams then adjust the passing times from those published for the Belmond Pullman and there you have it, what's the point of all the secrecy?

You dont even need to do that. Full times are now available at all your really favourite sources......Just as well, because the route and timings are subtly different. If you are out to see it, I would do this week, its school half term next week.

I assume it will have a diesel on the back?
If not would be interested in potd if seats available.

You beat me to it! Thanks for the warning about half term holiday, which will make Weds like a Sat! If videoing beware there could be restrictions through station platforms. Last Sat had the longest list of restrictions I've ever seen for one train! Many were avoided by running ML between Padd and Reading & vv. I will list the important ones when there is a thread for next Sat's trains.

Thx for the info re DL. I'll save my money and get a pic of the evening trip somewhere between Brentford and Virginia Water on my way back to Ascot.

He means Realtime Trains I don't think there is any embargo on saying that.

Secrecy. I think that SD may well have had to get approval for publishing the departure/return times as to not do so would, of course affect people who had not yet booked and needed to have some idea of when it was running. Somewhat important for the evening trip.

Gauging. My understanding is that the reason FS went out via Westbury and back via Andover is because to do it the other way (that was preferred -Upton Scudamore etc) would have generated even more gauging restrictions as Andover has said. And, of course, Upton then generated the need for a diesel requested by WC (and, of course, helped with the turn at Salisbury)

(All the above is not speculation, by the way. Hope therefore it helps to inform and explain.)

A shame for those partaking that the evening Surrey hills run is so late that the Surrey hills section will be in complete darkness. Given the hugely circuitous route, more of a west London suburban dinner!

Been advised by a Surrey local that the RTT route differs from the standard Belmond route in the early section but as I am not local no idea what differences that makes.

Yes you are right, it's going out via Willesden, Kew and the Hounslow loop to join the normal Belmond route and it's different coming back from Croydon. Finishes at West Brompton on the West London Line not Victoria which gives a straight run back to Southall

The early part of the path is indeed slightly different from the normal Belmond, but its all standard Belmond path (minus the pathing wait twixt addlestone and byfleet junctions) from Feltham to Victoria for the morning run.

The later part of Evening path does indeed deviate giving it a clear run back to Southall

Interestingly there appears to be no LE or ECS move from Victoria between the two runs. If you take RTT as gospel, it sits at Victoria P2 for three hours. Clearly it can't do that, and has to be turned at the very least.

Correction, there is a movement out of Platform 2 to Acton lane sidings, but only after the Gillingham service is due to arrive at P2!

Its not on RTT, but there is a long wait at Hounslow to pick up the takeaway curry for the pax.
