WSR Mixed Traction Weekend 10-12 June 2016

No but it would stop those moaning about D1010 limited use if any during weekend.

 

From what I hear politics are keeping 1010 confined to Wiliton for the event,

 

Wrong,1010 being by far my lowest mileage western(apart from 48) will get me there if running.1015 with over 6000 miles more won't.
Now awaiting a roster to see what's on offer from 7017/832 /9526 before making the WSR or ELR decision.

 

WSR and politics-surely not....

 

Who said that D1015 was attending the WSR gala?

As I see it the only way to get more punters to the Mixed Traction Event is for the WSR to hire Flying Scotsman for the weekend. Now we're talking. <BJ>

 

Thanks to Ian Monkton for the DMU revelations.

From what has emerged so far I have identified the trains using the dual-braked set on Saturday & Sunday but not for Friday. As these trains have the potential to 'bowl out' those who are not keen to travel behind modern air-braked only locomotives is it possible to reveal either the start or finish train for this set on the Friday or as a bonus the plans for 66757.

 

Clearly Robin has already taken note of comments on here made by the diesel fraternity. Hopefully Robin will be around the railway during the MTW weekend and soliciting the views of those who do attend. I suspect their comments may be quite enlightening and give food for thought.

 

On Friday the dual-braked set works the 0945MD, 1155BL, 1345MD, 1555BL, 1745MD. DEPG locos with air-brake capacity are the 33 and 47 (and the Western, if it runs) so it's pretty certain they will turn up on this set at various times.

 

I have read carefully the comments made here.

I was also late turn signalman at Swanage for all three days of their (very successful) diesel gala, as I have been for the past two years.

I expect to be line controller at Minehead for two days of this year's MTW.

I am very aware that a significant part of what I might describe as the 'diesel fraternity' is not impressed with some aspects of this year's arrangements.

As with all aspects of the WSR, I will be working for constant improvement in years to come. Anyone with a view is welcome to contact me.

Just to balance your post.
D832 on the semi fasts for 3 trips, as well as D6575 2 trips, the 66 is only on one semi fast on Saturday.
As all ways you cant please all of the people all of the time.
Unfortunately D1010 is just not going to be ready in time (from what i have been told).

Its good that for those that are going the WTTs are provided like many railways diesel events free and before time,
that updates slightly frustrating,as many have requested on forums , emails to depg info on if the Western will make appearances on its booked running days, if not what will replace it etc.
