RTT shows the loco for the first SSE on Thursday coming from, and returning to, the NRM, with the exchange taking place in Holgate sidings. But are there any WCRC locos at the NRM at present? There are no LE movements from Carnforth shown on RTT, so whatever it is must be there already - but what is it?

Thank goodness its tipped it down for the last 24 hours and is continuing to, as she seems to enjoy lighting up the lineside to Scarborough

Here is a very short clip of the outward journey on a very dull lunchtime today north of Haxby.

Several other videos show the 8 galloping along at a smart pace. Go straight to about 45 seconds in, only a diesel unit before that.

For the Class 37 followers, the Spas over the next few weeks are all scheduled for haulage by a pair, with the various ones being rotated. 516 668 669 & 685.

Interested to note short trainset; last week 7 coaches + support coach on York - Scarborough leg whilst today 37668 + 37685 left Preston with 7 coaches. I presume most of the passengers are dining and the income covers the cost of operation.

I think all but 2 of the Dalesman runs last year were 7 + POB until the school Summer holidays started, at which point it was increased to 10 + POB, so it sounds like a similar approach.

She did not disappoint and galloped to Scarborough in fine style in lovely sunny weather.

Really excellent day out today. Left my place near Leeds at 10 and got home at 7.20, civilised timings. Managed a superb cliff top walk from Filey back to Knipe Point under cloudless skies. Re Fred Kerr's message above I don't suppose it is doing more than covering marginal costs at the moment but it will in July and August provided we don't have a red hot summer and a steam ban. Anyway under the hour each way York to Scarborough respecting the restrictions in the Derwent valley was good going. Recommended on a nice day (which it was not last Thurs).

According to Ralph the idea of putting on the four class 37s (668 and 685 today) has generated some traffic further west.

Apart from the pairing of Class 37s (see below) the train now climbs over Copy Pit both ways and provides insurance in case the steam locomotive is unavailable at York due to locomotive failure / fire hazard.
