At first glance, the return appears to be a pretty speedy one from Langley onwards as its switched to the up main at Dolphin Junction.

Gets around some gauging/clearance issues, I think.

Agreed, but it has the benefit that they have to hustle it along pretty quickly to prevent clogging up the main on the busiest part of the network. What end of the consist the "hustle" is coming from tho may well be open to, err, "discussion".

    Thank you.

From the videos it would seem that Galatea was doing her fair share of hustling.

She certainly did working up the grade from Greenford to South Ruislip - to be heard working hard 3-4 miles away on the breeze was nice, but I suspect the box was doing something as she was 3 early when she passed me.

But in the context of the post you are replying to, we're talking about the Flying Secret, and the last time she came through the up fast at Iver, she coasted through, but when she went through there the time before on the down, she was doing line speed, with plenty of clag - exhibit A M'lud :)https://www.flickr.com/photos/duty_druid/26541339203/

Why is this forum perpetuating with this secrecy nonsense which is ineffective judging by the number of people who turn up at the right time at every station. The times are on RTT and probably other places.
For those who may be videoing beware of speed restriction at stations:
Nantwich 30, Wembury 30, Whitchurch 5, Yorton 5, Church Stretton 5, Ludlow 5, Pontypool Road 30, Patchway 30, Pangbourne 30, Tilehurst 30. Reading to Paddle as before. One not at a station 50 at the aqueduct between Westerleigh Jc and Chipping Sodbury.
Sorry this is a bit late.

Essentially, because we have been asked to as a result of a request to the forum from the organiser of the trips.

Thanks for the information, I'm torn between Nantwich and one or two other locations in that area, none of which I've been to before, so that might help me decide.

The stock, presumably with 46115 on the front arrived in Holyhead at 0745. Wouldn't it be great if the box stayed there? A Scot on the NWCE like wot it used to be. Probably wider odds than Leicester City winning the Premiership...

What's the ORR know about steam loco 'loadings? Black Fives and Jubilees worked hand in hand on the Midland, a train would one day have a black five on, the next day a 5X as they called them. The difference between 5X and Scots ,when they were at last transferred to the Midland towards the end of steam was unbelievable, as one driver said to me ,"they dunarf goo". I can't see how class6/7 can be lumped together. It also means a the difference between a Jubilee and Duchess would be one or two coaches. The loadings from Euston to Carnforth for a LMS 8P was ,Full load not quoted, limited load 655tons ,special limit 600, xl limit 510.
One of Leeds Holbeck double chimney caprotti valve gear black 5 s occasionally worked the 5.10 pm St Pancras to Bradford ,with the curved outside steam pipes and the double chimney it made a impressive sight and sound climbing up the 1 in 125 out of Kettering.

It seems it's standard practice at the moment for diesels on the back with WCR. The owners of 'County Of Essex' must be delighted with the amount of work their 47 is getting at the moment.

Fair question to which the official answer is that at present this is Forum policy. And in any event those with the knowledge don't need NP to help them - it's just a convenient shorthand access point for them without having to go and look for themselves or use the private Conversation/PM route to get what they need.

However the wider point is the fact the Google searches will not come to FS/timings first on here, if at all. And whilst it may be irritating for members to search elsewhere, there are also the people who visit as guests (who are always in the majority and sometimes by a factor of 2:1) who arrive here via Google.

So it's not as straightforward as it may at first appear and to be boring for a moment, if the information is 'readily' available elsewhere then there is no need for NP to share it because members on here are already 'timings savvy'. And why would we want to add unnecessarily to the public presence that already exists when FS is out and about?

Don't worry. Give it a little more time and things may improve.

Not all but far too many. Saving me lots of money but I'd rather be out there enjoying Proper Steam on the Mainline.

Late post! A couple of images taken last Sunday near Bishops Itchington Warks. http://rickeborall.zenfolio.com/p816163434

She cut off just at the wrong moment as there were people on the foot crossing and they looked a bit close to the running line!

Lots of locals came out to see the train . A lot thought it was going to be Scotsman and were a little disappointed when told it wasn't.

    Sorry for the late post......Regards...........Rick
