Here are three albums of metre gauge steam photographed by Les Tindall.

The Dao line was located south east of Porto, and was not connected to the extensive metre gauge network in northern Portugal. The Dao line was 129km long. It ran from Santa Comba Dao, on the broad gauge Beira Alta line from Pampilhosa to Vilar Formoso and the Spanish border, to Sernada do Vouga on the metre gauge Vouga line from Espinho, south of Porto, to Aveiro. This line is still operational. The Dao line opened throughout in 1914 and closed 1988 - 1990. Here are 24 photos:

Regua is on the Douro valley broad gauge line from Porto to Barca d'Alvela and the Spanish border, and was the junction for the now closed metre gauge line to Chaves. Here are 12 photos of broad and metre gauge steam:

Tua is on the Doura valley line east of Regua, and was the junction for the now closed metre gauge line to Braganca. Here are 9 photos of broad and metre gauge steam:

Two more 1972 albums, featuring broad and metre gauge steam in the Porto area, will follow in due course.

No I do not currently volunteer
Great to see these locos and other exhibits now well looked after.
Any sign of the inside cylinder 4-6-0?

I did not see CP 238, and I explored the museum and the traction depot pretty thoroughly.

A number of steam locos are stored at various locations. The only one I saw was outside cylinder 4-6-0 248 at Contumil, and I have now added a photo to the museum pix.

Details of the others can be found on the Steam Locomotive Information site, though it is out of date as regards locations.
