Swindon and Cricklade Railway - Steam, Cider and Sausages! 16th-17th July

    The Swindon and Cricklade Railway hosts it's first ever "Steam, Cider and Sausages" event!

    Come join us at Blunsdon Station where we'll be BBQ-ing some of the region's tastiest sausages. And why not accompaniment the fine food with a pint of crisp cider!

    Trains will be steam hauled and will see the public debut of Andrew Barclay 0-6-0 "Swordfish" as she takes on her first service trains in preservation!

    This weekend will also see the long awaited return of 3135 "Spartan" following extensive boiler repairs.

    *BREAKING NEWS*

    This weekend (16th & 17th) July will see the debut of Andrew Barclay 0-6-0 "Swordfish" as she hauls her first passenger trains at our "Steam, Cider and Sausages" event!

    She will also be joined by resident loco "Spartan" who returns to traffic after a year out due to boiler repairs.

    Is it the standard timetable for this event? And any idea yet which trains each loco will be running?

    I'm definitely heading that way this weekend, the DEMU fire underlined to me that all those holiday Wednesdays when I'd thought of going to the SCR for the first time and hadn't done it or gone somewhere else were a mistake. But I'm keen to cram a few lines into my free day so either going up to the Glous Warcs for the Hall/26 or to Didcot (because they don't deserve the hassle they're getting for that industrial engine) + Cholsey (for the visiting Pannier) before or after Cricklade. I'm eager to make sure I'm at the SCR for a time that involves both Spartan and Swordfish running if possible, though. The food/drink side is a bonus.

    hi There,

    We will be using the standard timetable that is listed on our website here.

    Swordfish and Spartan will be "top and tailing" one set of coaches for the duration of the event - although Swordfish will be joining the train Saturday afternoon due to final preparations - or so I'm told.
