70013: returning to mainline after 2016 autumn gala.

A picture was posted on Facebook earlier today showing 70013 in steam running with the bevertail coach to Quorn for turning, looks like a massive step forward!

 

She had her fire refreshed today, and is running a private charter tonight to Leicester north and back! Then is running in this weekend along with 48624, and possibly next weekend before leaving for Southall very soon.

 

Let's hope she moves down to Southall as soon as possible to save the southern part of the railtour programs, especially since she's booked for a lot of trips during Christmas!

 

70013 returns to steam on the GCR, making it's official first trips in over 18 months !

 

Wonderful sound quality, especially considering only 5 on.

One image of 70013 at Loughboro'after working 10.45 from Leicester today 17/07/2016. Still facing north ,has the turntable been repaired at Quorn.?.Appeared to have had a repaint to tender /cab only,looks very 1950/60s,not high shine but clean.

 

Yes the turntable has been repaired, that's what they turned the Beavertail with.

 

Any update on where the loco is? When it will be on the main line?

It was booked in for some mainline trips this month, but they have be cancelled/postponed i believe.

 

Was receiving some work on the ashpan yesterday, and is having a Vehicle Acceptance Body Exam next week. It is planned for her to run at the GCR for the Autumn Gala in a few weeks, when road transportation will then be organised to head back to Southall.

 

Would anyone be willing to update the title of this thread to something like 70013: returning to mainline after 2016 autumn gala

70013 now shown as running at GCR Last Hurrah weekend 19/20 November.

Is the loco still leaving for mainline after this?

If anyone knows if it will be back for the GCR winter gala in Jan 2017 that would be most helpful...

It's been replaced by the Black Fives for a few upcoming tours, so not looking good for an imminent mainline return !

 

70013 is still listed for 2 tours this December on uksteam. But the promoter pages show 2 Black 5's.

I assume the team must be aiming for a 2017 string of tours now, will be good to see it out again!

 

70013 is no longer advertised for any main line tours in 2016. Nor has it been nominated for any tours in 2017 until GBX at the end of April.
