    We may even have to look internationally. I understand that the SVR vehicle is a BR hybrid although it is possible to assemble components of the correct heritage.

    On Thursday the WSR roster at http://www.wsr.org.uk/roster.htm it says the DMU is running but it's an orange timetable and the steam loco services all have a loco allocated to them, is this an error?

    I don't think so. There are always people who chance their luck at that crossing. There is a 5mph speed limit which is strictly observed. I think it's mostly that a passenger caught this incident on camera. It would be more interesting to know if there was an emergency application of the brakes required but that's not reported.

    Don't know. As you say there are steam engines allocated but perhaps the DMU needs to make a movement for some other reason.

    I presume B1 & B2 are the coaching sets, but what does M or B alone mean?

    My mistake. I don't actually get any official info about DMU turns so have to work it out from the timetable in operation. But that's no excuse. Sorry. I will correct.

    I'll also be deleting www.wsr.org.uk/roster.htm as it's an "old page" (albeit grabbing current data). Best go to the main news site and look at the new loco roster page http://cgibin.wsr.org.uk/cgi-bin/r-roster.cgi under "Information".

    B1 - first steam loco departing BL on timetabled service. (generally does 2 round trips)
    B2 - second steam loco departing BL on timetabled service. (generally does 1 round trip)
    M - only one steam loco departs MD at the start of each day on any timetabled service. (generally does 2 round trips)
    I'll leave you to work out "B"

    MD set: 1015 MD, 1235 BL, 1425 MD, 1620 BL.

    BL set 1: 1025 BL, 1230 MD, 1435 BL, 1620 MD.

    BL set 2: 1105 BL, 1525 MD.

    Thank you all for the clarification. (I think the original poster meant Friday so the DMU in effect takes the B2 diagram).

    So S would be a cattle train from Stogumber.
    & P would be a Pannier Auto-train on some other railway.

    I think I've got it now.
