    On photo 22, despite the chalked number, the loco is not 5622.

    I remember visiting Barry scrapyard quite a few times whilst everything was still there and being reserved for preservation.

    Dai Woodham wasn't stupid .... he had enough wagons and coaches such as those illustrated in some of the pictures to keep his workers busy scrapping those, which meant that he didn't have to break up many of the locos unless they were too dangerous to leave.

    I also visited Cashmores yard in Newport a few times, as it wasn't too far away from where I live.

    I remember the diesels being broken up there, along with quite a few steam locos. The site is completely gone now - it's mostly housing and business premises.
