Surprised no one has brought this up yet!

46100 'Royal Scot' has been announced as the first visitor for the Autumn Gala at the Mid Hants Railway.

    Hopefully the weather is decent!

So do I hope the weather is ok, however being this late in October the odds are clearly less likely to be so than say in September.
Great guest visitor, the Alps should give it a decent test however I believe that 6100 is pretty good at climbing hills.

I do understand why the MHR have their gala in the last few days of October for loco availability, but it's been a common feature of their autumn galas in recent years that the weather is pretty rubbish. 2011(?) with 60163, 70000 and 4464(/4492) was ok on the Friday and Saturday and woeful on the Sunday, the 2013 one with 60163, 70000 and 34046 was the one with the big storm ( storm Jude?) on the Saturday and Sunday, and the past couple in 2014 and 2015 were largely cloudy but dry.

One of these galas we'll have wall to wall sunshine for 3 straight days... :p

Its called season finale, before the Satan's kick in.

The Scot will be 18 months overdue.

Can see 34052 joining the fun as well...................

Is the (Spring) Late winter gala going to be on the 10,11 and 12th February next year? The naming convention on that one always does make me chuckle.

    That's great news.
I hope the new bridge that is being installed at Aldershot this month doesn't cause problems with gauging with Steam Locomotives in the future. That might bu**er up loco movements for steam Galas. You never know what might happen these days.

Better not let the local churches get wind of this new marketing strategy...

I particularly enjoyed that the MHR Spring gala happened about 2-3 weeks before some lines held their "winter" galas this year.

A few years back the MHR Autumn Gala was held in early September, was about 28 degrees and solid sunshine.

So the gala line up could look like this

    46100
    76017
    41312
    92212
    30925
    45379

I'm looking forward to seeing 76017 back in action on the MHR.

It would seem to fit......... as for the name, I believe an alternative is being sought.

It's also now shown on the MHR Website Gala page. Excellent news. I wonder if there might be another Midland visitor to complete the line up?

It would be a bonus is there was, but quite honestly, 46100 and 53809 are sufficient in and of themselves to make this a must-attend event - not to mention the return of 76017. Even if it's a miserable forecast, the prospect of a run behind 46100 on Medstead Bank is highly appealing to someone like myself who has never travelled behind any 3-cylindered LMS 4-6-0.

Hopefully 809 gets a few runs on the Great collection of Goods stock you have over the weekend,

It's going to interesting which way round the visiting loco will be. Apart from 30925 all the home fleet are facing out of Alresford. So both visiting locos could end up facing out of Alton.

About time a Duchess revisited the MHR I think. Seems like years since 46229 visited.

I wonder if GCR based 8F 48264 might appear at the MHR after it's visit to the Swanage Gala?

Why would you want 28 degrees, the colder the better gets my vote.
