If you look on their Facebook page it says something about it, but I am surprised they didn't put it on their website.

The website should be updated in the next couple of weeks; a photo was put on FB yesterday, which was when 34028 left Herston. It may well have taken a roundabout route, though I think it's heading for Buckfastleigh.

The SDR are doing a batch of 4-5 new fireboxes. 34101 is one known recipient and I think 34039 is another, plus perhaps 34023 from the Bluebell

Would that be using the pressings they purchased from pridhams, when they took over the firm?

To elaborate on the above, we view the SLL website as a long-term record of what happens to our locos and our future plans. Facebook is better suited for 'hot news', e.g. a loco spotted on a motorway. For example, this photo https://www.facebook.com/SouthernLo...466515364176/1236042403106579/?type=3&theater has been seen by 7,600 people on FB in the last 36 hours, whereas our website gets about 70 hits per day (which is quite good for an established website). As for forums such as this, I think it's for people who want to chew over what's going on with others with similar interests.

Thread has gone quiet but Steam Railway ran an interesting story in this months issue about Churnet Valley Railways General Manager putting in a bid to buy 35025. According to the article he placed a bid when they forced to leave the GCR but it was unsuccessful so is trying again now.

As a shareholder in 35025 it would be nice to hear from the association as to what is going on. I've heard nothing for years and all my contact info is out of date.

It's a bit risky to say something out loud without anything set in stone, this could affect the sale, for example the NYMR standard 4 they bought from the owner nearly didn't happen because someone told the press, and railways and owners around the country came in with their offers.
If it is going to be sold as has mentioned above why have none of the shareholders been notified?

So where was the shareholders during its time at Selinge? i only ever saw the chairman once, and that was at a stall one steam fair, i dont recall a single working party, i would guess its the old problem, an chairman, who possibly thinks its his own property, and does not inform the remaining shareholders, and is incapable of raising the funds needed to kick start the restoration, at least the owner of 35011 was determined to see work done on it, and it has now been transfered to a trust that hopefully will carry on the work, whats needed is for who ever is the majority shareholder to either start talking to get the engine somewhere , where it can be stripped down and rebuilt, because after the time stood in the open, the work to axleboxes and frames will need to be re done or to accept he is not now the right person to look after the engine and get agreement to sell the controlling interest to someone who will have a plan to restore the engine.

Here's hoping that something positive is happening behind the scenes. I got to admit when I saw her a few months ago she did look to be a sorry state but I suspect that she is still in decent condition.

If you are referring to 80136, it hasn't been bought. It still has the same owners but has come to the NYMR on a 10-year agreement. That's why premature mention in the press (before the deal was signed) put it in jeopardy. Thankfully, as it will be a major contributor in those 10 years.

34081 ventured outside on the Sunday of the NVR. The job's nearly done but some snags with the driver's side casing are proving particularly troublesome to sort out and are the main cause of the delay.

It s not got the smokebox on, so could be off 34073, i believe thats sat outside, 34016 has had its cladding removed , so the last report mensioned but didnt say if the boiler had been lifted, so i would imagine its either going onto Tangmere, or depending on what works needed on bodmin,

Could be a choice of 34073, Tangmere or Bodmin. My guess is Tangmere

It's been there for about a year, so it's from 34073.

plus would Carnforth want to have a stripped bulleid pacific about the place whist they are hopefully finishing 35018? i have not heard anything about tangmere having had any work done yet i know the firebox has been condemned , so depending on what state the boiler off 34073 is in it may very well find its way onto tangmere .
