Thanks for the heads up. I will endeavour to get there early with a tenner in my hand. Always wanted to travel on the freight. I hope the weather is okay though as I imagine it gets rather draughty on the QMB!

As a member of the railway & not having made if up there since the spring, thanks for the reminder of this extra incentive!

Standard 4 and Cheltenham on duty last night for the RAT and the Belle
It was a little on the damp side, so we had the Crompton for insurance, which was nice as we'd not had either 76017 or 33 053 on the RAT.

The weather for the weekend, seems to be set fair................ and as you'll be on the veranda, it'll be breezier than you think - and although it is a bogie brake, you might also want to pack your sea legs as well!

Cant make it unfortunately. However if there is anything of note from the meeting that is worth mentioning I hope that a brief account is given here by anyone who can attend.

The Roster for The Open Weekend is now on the MHR Faceache page:
925, 76017 and 50027 will be sharing the passenger duties alongside the Hampshire unit.
92212 is hauling the Goods train.

I know exactly what you mean. I have posted stuff from the AGM'S in the past and then really wished I hadn't bothered due to the backlash I received on here.
I didn't go this year anyway. The last couple of AGM'S I attended didn't give much info away anyway and got stuck in the usual rut of questions about using diesels on the MHR They felt a bit like Groundhog Day!

I just though, when I was there just over a week ago at the open day I didn't see 34058 and 80150 anywhere. Are they stored away from the railway? Or they on the sidings at Alresford?

This is the 1st chance I got to see the newly restored crane in the dock at M4M the other Saturday (it & the dock are a credit to the building Dept) :) though shooting more or less into the sun doesn't help & nor did the crud in the form of dumpy's help either! :(
    Hence the portrait shot....................

Also from what I've seen, a major shunt looks to have taken place this week as well which should mean that the 2 plank + load should be back in the rake soon along with the BR brake.......

The Black 5 was out anf about again yesterday, hauling the Belle last night. @Hampshire Unit has a fine image on this flickr feed.

Swanage's Tender is looking more complete and was out in the yard.

Previously the (other) side was missing and work was being undertaken inside.

76017 & 41312 looked a fine pair in lined black in the yard yesterday.

I know Bulleid locos can have their aesthetic challenges, but surely even on a Bulleid, that looks more like a tender than a boiler! ;)

Lol, yes, what a numpty, that'll teach me not to wake up so early after a shift on the RAT (getting home about 1am).
Mind you, if I'd said it was a Q1 boiler + cladding ;)
    Editied now :)
