The big red lady is seen at Cheney Longville on the outward leg and Condover on the return leg.

Good to meet with you again yesterday Scott; you caught that perfectly despite the rush with the surprise approach of the train!! A beautiful photograph.

    All the best,

    Alan

Had the train come on time the light was perfect . Those 24 minutes were photographers agony ! A few left and I was about too when she finally departed . Points apparently needed clipping, and delay waiting for a mom to arrive

A brilliant video, well done. As an old resident of the area I know it well and that the climb up Caradoc not an easy one but well worth it on this occasion. What a shame the weather was not just a little bit clearer. Now domiciled on the other side of the globe the clip made me feel quite 'homesick'. I am old enough to remember when I was young enough to climb Caradoc without effort that steam hauled trains were the norm!

Nice one Scott, as you have seen from Martin's shot, the delayed departure and the bonfire smoke killed the second crossing shot, perfect at 5.30 when we checked it out!

A great show upfront from Lizzie, the diesel for most of the time stayed slightly muted apart from the departure out of Shrewsbury. Plenty of noise upfront to please passengers & linesiders ! Hope you enjoy :)

A couple of shots of Lizzie doing her thing and doing it well. Roaring up Llanvihangel Bank at Llantilo Pertholey on the outward, then speeding past Moreton-on-Lugg on the return.

Should not have been doing anything surely. There was no emergency was there necessitating a shove?

On such occasions it seems like nothing more than "This diesel has to come with us today so it might as well be given something to do."

One thing that struck me from these videos was how cleanly the exhaust lifts from Princess class locomotives and yet when the Duchesses came along they needed blinkers.

Interesting observation. If my understanding is correct, 6201's steam chest and (possibly) blast-pipe arrangements are essentially 'King' - so not surprising the exhaust lifts clear.

Haven't you noticed that the Princess Coronation (Duchess) Class have double chimneys as opposed to Lizzie's single chimney? Double chimneys have a softer blast so don't lift the smoke as high hence the need for deflectors. The double chimney Kings still had a very strong blast and easily lifted the exhaust clear of the cab. The A4s didn't need them either as the air flow over the streamlining lifted the smoke clear.
