I've just been through the whole gallery and really enjoyed it. All the photos are first class, a pleasure to view. I see most are up north so I'm assuming that those taken at Dawlish were taken when you were holidaying there. It was just a couple of weeks ago I was trying to find that location overlooking the station and sea at Dawlish and found it with Google Earth..I think I found it.. up out of the town (East to Kingswear) and look out for a narrow public footpath entrance on the left near the top of the hill. Seems that takes you to that spot. Tornado was travelling to Kingswear. My wife and I were trying to book somewhere down there at short notice but couldn't find anywhere..high season,I suppose. It's just over two hours drive from here..120 miles. We'll get there one day, again. We have been before staying at the Langstone Cliff hotel by the rock of the same name .You can see the line from the grounds of the hotel . I did climb the rock..a bit difficult as it's very steep and photographed a train--a regular one, coming from Plymouth. Infact, on that day Bittern that was due through but it was replaced by a diesel. Very disappointing to see that as it came through Dawlish Warren .

    Hi John101

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I do live in the North in Yorkshire in fact, the shots from Dawlish etc, were when we just went for the day to see Tornado and the Duchess, we also spent a couple of hours at The South Devon Railway while waiting for Tornado to return. If you would like to see those shots, just visit my website, http://trev11.zenfolio.com

You put me to shame, Trev, travelling all that way and back in a day. I'd have to stay overnight. I suppose with two driving it's ok but if I mention going to somewhere like Dawlish my wife likes to go and starts looking for accommodation.

I did go through all your photos (clicked on 'View all' ) in that link in your original post and saw the Dawlish ones hence me mentioning how I think I would get to the location on the hill where you took the station shots of those two locos from. I don't think I've missed any pages.
