    Hi Everybody! Brand new member here and first time posting.

    I moved from Lancashire to Fife in August last year, as soon as I did that I joined the Fife Heritage Railway (also known as Kingdom of Fife Railway Preservation Society). After spending years visiting the ELR and KWVR I thought this would be the best time to get my hands dirty and become a real preservationist. I haven't looked back!

    I noticed on here there is little to no mention of our little railway so I thought I'd create a little thread if anyone is interested in what we do and also to bring us into some form of spotlight.

    After the closure of Lochty Private Railway (run by John Cameron) in 1992 the KFRPS was formed to take on the rolling stock and continue some form of preservation. The stock was moved to Methil power station in 1994 on the mothballed Leven-Thornton line owned by network rail, while the society looked for permanent premises. Finally in 2001 the society acquired the old Kirkland marshalling yard (21 acres) and by 2003 all stock had been moved to site, since then a two lane workshop has been constructed for restoration projects, along with half a mile of track and sidings.

    In 2008 we gave our first rides to the public, opening just a few days of the year to run passengers up and down the line, along with tours of the shed. Fast forward to 2016 and we are now beginning to look like a railway! With a permanent platform structure in place, monthly public openings and a Barclay in ticket we are getting somewhere. This year has been a massive leap for us with competition of the platform and the Barclay, we have no idea what the future holds for us now, but we're incredibly excited for it!

    Glad to have you onboard. I did ask quite some time back if there was anyone on the forum from the Kingdom of Fife RPS and am very happy to see that there now is. Looking forward to hearing lots of news :)
