I recognise the 1st photo as being a Blue Steel nuclear stand off bomb casing and claim my £5. Wibble.

I know that most of the focus recently has been on the P2, somewhat rightly given the speed of that build, but seeing the 3MT, Patriot, Atlantic and Saint heading for the finish line should gladden any enthusiast's heart. We're at the final stage more or less for the latter and the prior three are all in the boiler building stage.

Also the sight of a Vulcan given this week marks a year since XH558's last flight is a nice touch.

Unlike the 3MTs, Vulcan XA903 is a survivor (well at least part of it). See the owner's website.

The life of everyone on this thread depends upon just one thing: finding someone back there who can not only talk sensibly about 82045 but who didn't have fish for dinner....

No 'fish for supper' and can sometimes talk sensibly about 82045.:) So here is a question for the observant.

Excellent and welcome though pictures of a beautifully constructed and painted cab and two united boiler barrels may be, there is much more going on than the two obvious features the photo's indicate. Like icebergs, much what goes on with 'new builds' remains frustratingly unseen by members and supporters, until they suddenly appear like magic to the public gaze.

Has anyone noticed a change from the last three months, in the photo's of the lower sections of 82045s frames, which indicates hard skilled work to be followed by significant forward progress in the not to distant future ?

You're so very right, gios. Most work requires hours and hours of hard labour to produce something that looks no different than before, but it was vital that it was done. Grinding horn gap faces, reaming out existing hole, which themselves took many hours to drill, show no progress to the uninitiated. So photos when there is some visible progress help to convince such people that advances are happening, but the really hard but unnoticed work takes a back seat.

... and people who don't see big parts being added to the loco sometimes assume that nothing is happening when the reality is far from it.
