Thanks for the news, Ben. Will 9466 also do a light-engine, or loco + POB, test earlier in the day? I know this has been the pattern for some previous Tyseley test days. It would be rather nice to get a photo of the l/e test in the afternoon then have a ride in the evening (assuming I can bunk off work that Thursday).

A LE run to SuA earlier in the day is yet to be decided.

So I infer that the Pannier Ramble will return to New Street then? That's good. Pity that the Lickey will be in the dark although I suspect we will hear what is going on! Ticket booked already.

If you do Lickey in the day, there will be no one booked on the train !

    Liam,

I am sorry to expose your ignorance of the railtour business, but the train you claim 'no one will book on' is already at 86% Capacity!!

If you do not wish to travel on it, why not simply say 'it's not for me!'

There have been two before with 9600 and 7752, the first which I was on appeared full, and the second one had an additional coach. You could hear the locos working , I was not bothered that it was in the dark. I remember either Bob or Ben commenting on here when they ran in trips in the day up the Lickey, that they did not sell well, but there were plenty of people lineside.

Will 9466 be on the back up the Lickey, to become the first 94XX banker since 1964?

My post should have read 'If you don't do the Lickey at night' Have edited it now, apologies for my error. What I meant to say was that running up the Lickey in the daytime would mean less bums on seats. As proven with 6201 going up in March 2012 with the Pannier pair on the rear ! I think that was that was the last time steam ran in daylight hours up the Lickey !

(And just to alert @Ben Vintage-Trains about this apology and error so we all remain friends! - Mod comment)

I think most of us got your drift, even if the official representative didn't. What I interpreted from your original post was a joke that running it in daylight would mean people would rather photo the spectacle of the climb than buy a ticket.

That's precisely how I read it. Can't believe how prickly people can be sometimes. Oh well, it's what makes this forum entertaining.

If you were a promoter or a TOC and read what was sometimes said on here then perhaps you would be entitled to be a bit prickly or at best sensitive given that they don't even have to bother to post on here. But it's sometimes very helpful when they do.

Al, it still doesn't excuse biting off the head off a potential customer. At the very least, it was a condescending response.

An existing customer I'll add, but I'm not that fussed as it was an error on my behalf and I can somewhat of imagined Ben's reaction to the initial comment. I think it's time to move on from this.

Good to see that the Pannier Rambler is timed to be accessible from everywhere else in a day as well as the Birmingham area. 9.30 off Tyseley and back at 8 pm with three hours in Worcester. Very civilised.

Hi Al, where did you get that information?
I'm booked on the train and have not received any note of timings.
    Thanks, Des
