Is there a map of the current line and what'll be left once MetroBus is finished with it?

Is that an amended layout Corbs? The Bristol City Council planning page linked from the metrobus website shows a new station platform near the foot crossing at the end of Avon Crescent, but your plan shows a platform on the Cumberland Basin side of the bonded warehouse.

As far as I know, the image I posted was true as of March 2015, taken from the 'Detailed Plan' on:
    http://travelwest.info/metrobus/archive-papers/ashton-vale-temple-meads

I believe the earlier plan of stopping at Avon Crescent was very much a 'TBC' plan.
As I understand it, the railway and M Shed put forward the case of moving the 'Barn' to the bonded warehouse area and making it a 2 road shed, to make up for the loss of the Smeaton Road bridge shed. This wasn't in the earlier diagrams.
There's also the case that all the platforms have to be on the North side of the line, as the passenger stock only has doors on one side, and the SS GB halt platform (the only immovable one on the railway) is on the North side.

I know we are very much 'not out of the woods yet' but one thing I try to bear in mind is that it could be a lot worse, the original plan entailed ripping out the entire New Cut branch and replacing it with a concrete rail- and bus-way which would have been very different to what we will have.

Thanks Corbs. The "detailed plan" documents on the direct link from that site (http://planningonline.bristol.gov.u...ils.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=MXL72EDN00J00) are different to the general arrangement plans (http://planningonline.bristol.gov.u...D_GENERAL_ARRANGEMENT_PART_2_OF_5-1085684.pdf) on the planning site. But the detailed plans are a later date than the general arrangement plans, so hopefully the former is correct. You're right about looking on the bright side, the new bus will be good for me. I live in Hotwells and we've been waiting a long time for a reliable and frequent bus link to Temple Meads! Hopefully the civil engineering for the metrobus will be carried out to a standard that enables easy conversion to a tramway in the future.....

If it's anything like the Cambridge one, that'll be when the buses pound the track to pieces in a few years time...

While with my rail bias hat on I can't help smile at you comments, as a regular user of the busway I have to say (with gritted teeth) that actually it offers an excellent reliable service and is here to stay.

aha, I've tried to stay neutral as much as I could, I did read the independent report on the Bristol one and the findings did make sense for the most part. As I've said before though, at least its a transport corridor and not being lost forever to housing.

Hello all, the planning documents for the proposed new shed at SS Great Britain Halt are now online and available for comment.
    See here for more information:
    http://bristolharbourrailway.co.uk/2015/12/01/planning-application-for-new-shed/

Comments are welcome. The railway could really do with some support here as this shed is much needed for the crane and shunter (especially since the loss of the Smeaton Road shed) and it would be a shame to lose this opportunity.
Here is a pic of what the shed could look like:

Anyone know was there more trackwork or other lines leading off the docks branch? On some youtube footage i've watched, on leaving the top station (opp end to the docks) there appears to be what looks like the remains of a trackbed that head underneath the bridge & has now been filled in.

This line went to the cannons marsh goods yard and the goods shed is still standing inside @ Bristol. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4...4!1sIE0ZJ2AvsZpHVFMyO_E6Ow!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 also the old gas works https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4...4!1spKTaVJxPtw-1Flj4Z7igjA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 the watershed https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4...4!1sSyeI7RcLrvgeYRqTphAv2Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 and in the last case the tracks are still to be seen under the end door.

Also on the museum side the line used to come out at the goods yard at Temple Meads Station and until at leas the 80's part of the track bed was still there with a bridge across one of the roads but has now all gone.

Correct, that was the route that went around the North side of the docks to Canon's Marsh goods shed (now @bristol museum)

Is there a map that shows the extend of Bristol's dockyard railways?
