    I like it.
Here's a thankfully brief shot a little further down the line at Lostock Junction. Not my finest hour - I was hoping they'd slow for the junction and then accelerate away! Hey ho - and I have no idea where all the muck on the lens came from:

In my 16 odd years whilst involved on steam hauled tours I have not been on any where a WCR steam loco failed, the one occasions time a tour was delayed due to a loco failure it was 5407.

Always go out early for these tours. It was about 12 early at Chapeltown and gained time on the Penistone line.
There must have been a service train missing for it to be so early at Penistone and Huddersfield ?

A somewhat disappointing shot this morning as the safety valve drift falls down on the second loco, Ladybridge Lane, twixt Lostock Jnc. and Bolton, site of troughs in steam days. P3020141.JPG

It looks like a complicated end to the Tin Bath with the train being held at Wigan while they tried to sort out the chaos on the WCML after someone was hit by a train between Wigan and Preston.

Quite agree but it struck me as a declaration of faith that two locos fresh off a tough six months were relied upon to do both ECSs and the charter itself unaided.
