I appreciate that the year is flying by and we're quickly approaching August but I'm pretty sure that your title of Midsummer Norton is spelt wrong and should read Midsomer Norton. ;)

PS. Excellent news regarding 80072. I'll be there.

I was a bit concerned there might be a murder there, so I disguised the name. Now you've blown it, I edited the title. Take a bodyguard just in case

Most excellent. I'm only sorry I couldn't make it. Weather looking better for tomorrow. Never mind a Somerset & Dorset themed event, this is the real thing on part of the REAL S&D. I guess if we want more of this we know where we need to put our money don't we?

Great pics, similar to mine, although it was dry on the weekend that I went luckily. I've been there 7 or 8 times and its great to see the progress each time. It really did look the part. I missed the S&D so, this is a nice little window into the past. All that effort to recreate a scene from the past so convincingly. Even the greenhouse has been resurrected. This must be anathema to the miserable EWF's (Everything Will Fail) who I take it have never been here and never will. It is probably better that way.

I hadn't been since the late 90s stopped off after an event when Wessex water allowed us to walk Coombe Down tunnel,
The progress is amazing, its pretty hard to spot the few things that give it away as being 50 years later,
IMHO this is the bench mark for preserved stations now, hopefully theres a chance of it becoming a railway to somewhere instead of an out to an operation point and back down.
But with a station like that and the massive progress they have made you can forgive that.

Now is there a fund for getting one of 53808/9 back for a weekend or two ?? I'd pay to see that,

I took my two youngest, (Boys 6 & 8)a friend & his two (Boy 6 girl 10) to Midsomer Norton on 13.11 for the Sentinels first public outing.

I was surprised how busy it was, the children loved the pill box & museum.

We had to wait for the Sentinel to get up steam, and the children discovered much to their amusement that a brisk walk down the train against the direction of travel meant that they in effect stayed on the spot. The Girl recognised that we were in Hogwarts Express carriages

All in all a very good afternoon out much enjoyed by the non train fans
