Demanding answers to some fairly pointless leading questions is, and then declaring "aha, I won" whatever answers you receive is not exactly a very constructive discussion technique.

Its not so much is it worth getting to a point where you can connect back up with the national network, its what can you do to make it pay if you do, for instance, if your on the end of a freight only line miles from anywhere, there is limited benefit, but if your a few yards from a mainline station , or have a cross platform connection, then thats a differant ball game, if you have a TOC who are supportive , who want to advertise that you can get to x railway using their service and offer through ticketing etc, and activly promote you then there is a market for instance whats stopping Southern from offering off peak cheap travel to East grinstead if you buy a ticket that includes travel on the bluebell off peak? for say £5 return plus the bluebell fare? thats where having a conection, and being near to london helps, especially if it makes travel by train attactive. and cheaper than driving then paying to park? .

I like WIBNs, providing people are honest about them. They add to the interest on the forum.

That co-operation is pretty well what happens at Duffield between EVR and East Midlands Trains.
