    hello
does anyone know how our preserved railways have fared after storm angus !!

  2. It's a gale and some rain. It happens regularly in the UK climate and has done for millennia. Unfortunately the idiotic decision to 'name' every bit of a blow is only going to hype people up on social media that it's some sort of unusual and terrible event.

Only very rarely does something come along which is worthy of the anything like the hype that every puff of wind and drop of rain seems to attract on social media nowadays. 1703 and 1987 spring to mind.

Excellent summing up of todays nanny state mentality.
Was sailing at the weekend, windy but not exceptional.

the Rosslare to Fishguard ferry couldn't dock for some hours apparently, but we had nothing here to speak of in the West of Ireland. Lovely sunny day today

BBC national TV news have just done so (if you consider that a reliable source).
