    Hello to all forum readers,

We (Specialised Engineering Products Ltd) are the manufacturers of the Commonwealth Pedestal Liners mentioned above. If there is anyone out that would still like to purchase these products or take on the project from DMTP Rail, as they no longer appear to be trading, then please get in touch with us and register your interest ASAP. Whether this will be for short or long term business, please inform us of your plans - we're interested to know.

We have all of the tooling and designs (including 3D CAD Models) on site here in Romsey, Hampshire, UK so can resume production if required.

If we don't hear from any prospective customers by 31st March 2016, we will be scrapping all tooling relating to this project.

If you are interested, please contact us at sales@specialisedengineering.co.uk or by phoning us on 01794 830757.

To find out more about SEP as a company, please take a look at our website: www.specialisedengineering.co.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!

    Bump!

For which I make no apology.

With the weekend upon us, and Volunteers attending their various venues, the matter raised here is of a degree of importance to any Railway that uses Commonwealth Bogies.

To put it bluntly, if the tooling is scrapped, "We're stuffed." - unless anyone knows of an alternative producer.

Having been involved in the maintenance of Commonwealth Bogies I know from experience that when the liners 'stick', it is normally due to a build up of corrosion between the liner and the pedestal. In perhaps 90% of the cases, it is just a matter of cutting the welds, removing the corrosion, and refitting.

However, there are occasions where the original liner, through damage/distortion, or delamination, has to be scrapped. We have some spares although, we are probably down to our last couple. I believe that the spares that we did accumalate was via "Mate's Rates" from another user, which possibly makes us as 'Guilty' as other organisations in not supporting an OEM type supplier.

The post above needs to be viewed with a degree of concern and the "Heritage Industry" needs to respond accordingly.

    Hi,

This is just a quick post to inform those who have indeed made contact regarding the Commonwealth Pedestal Liners. Thank you for your initial inquiries - we appreciate your promptness in getting in touch.

Due to the Christmas break, we will be reviewing the situation as of 4th January 2016 and will be making contact with all interested parties with the hope of arranging site visits where possible early next year.

Until then, we'd like to wish all on here a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Regards

    SEP
