It's not the biggest article but CVR has bought the lease For Leekbrook-Cauldon from MCR, who are going to invest the money in Leekbrook-Endon.

I didn't want to do SR out of a sale by going into detail, but admit I thought that was the main thrust of the piece,

The vicar was in the shop looking at the top shelf which is why I decided to ask the owner if he had any copies of SR.

So all that needs to be done is get about a mile of track and a loop and Leek will have been reached. Except IIRC the track bed to Leek is owned by the council.

Isn't there a pipe that is under the trackbed? Doesn't this need to be moved to one side so the other can have track later on top?

So does this now mean that if the line from Ipstones to Cauldon or Waterhouses is to be relayed then it will be the CVR that has to raise the money or will this not be even thought of till leekbrook-stoke is completed? And who is now driving the push towards Leek?

There is no strategic vision. Shareholders are completely in the dark. Shambolic.

Give it a rest. You've posted 4 times on this forum and every one of those posts is a negative jab at CVR/MCR. If you have such serious issues with either railway why don't you write directly to the directors? Whinging on here achieves nothing except making you look bad.

    Keith,

Tried that as a current shareholder. Directors are not dictators, so freedom of expression whether it be negative or positive is allowed.

Like any organisation there are good points and bad points. There is nothing wrong with openness and accountability.

The people and organisations who are providing funding need to be told what the new vision and direction is. It's not too much to ask is it?

But the situation is analogous to the Brexit discussions.

Negotiations need to take place in confidence hence "people and organisations who are providing funding" will be told that negotiations are taking place and - for reasons of confidentiality - will be told the result once they have concluded and NOT the negotiation strategy before they begin.

It was a stupid and ill-informed decision that needs to be undone as quickly as possible, you presumably are implying.

I'm not asking for intimate detail just what the plans are going forward. It's called shareholder scrutiny. Perhaps if shareholders were to hold directors and CEO's to account we would have a much fairer and equal society.

I never said you weren't entitled to freedom of expression. The problem is that lots of positive things have happened on our railways and the CVR is no exception.
Certainly from the photos and reports posted on here by @lil Bear @p/wayman @chris meadowcroft @Sheff and others, the railway is rebuilding carriages, the S160s and Polish tanks have been restored/under restoration, the Austerity recently arrived for restoration, line clearance and sleeper replacement ongoing and I think I remember seeing something about signalling work also taking place. I don't remember seeing any of your posts congratulating the volunteers and directors on these achievements. Instead your posts are all negative and directed at the CVR/MCR directors who may not even read this forum.

    Keith,

I do see countless good things happening on the CVR and can only sit and admire the dedication of the volunteers, unfortunately due to the nature of my day job I can't make the same commitment. I travel on the railway regularly including holding my wedding reception there. I'm commenting from the perspective of a shareholder who since the tie up with MCR have seen things happen and decisions taken that to me as a railway worker of nearly 30 years do not make sense.

Lets get things in perspective, as a pway volunteer on the railway, every loco on the CVR bar 2 diesels ( Neither of which are runable) is owned by the NSRC the CEO or volunteers. 5.5 miles. of CVR owned track, 4.5 miles of track on a 90 odd year lease. Another 1 mile to Leek which is now under CVR negotion not MCR. Coaching stock second to none, Trackwork, and signalling that is being bought up to a better standard. 3 great stations all different, an ongoing deal to buy Cheddleton from the council, meaning we we own all 3. Not to mention a very committed volunteer workforce, an excellent MPD which in recent times has built AN S160 6046 from a kit of parts then repaired it after an incident, modified the Tkh to run to B.R spec and now almost have the second S160 5197 ready to run. There are a lot of things happening all for the betterment of the CVR so lay off the moaning that we are doing very little.

Can't remember moaning that nothing is happening. I am questioning the direction in which the company has headed since its involvement with MCR, which to some has come at a detriment with the scrapping of rails to Oakamoor and now the liability of replacement of track to Cauldon, without mention of a brand new railway to Leek. As we all know there is only so much that can be achieved in these times of austerity and some might say "where has all the money gone"
