Just had the bad news that Princess Elizabeth has been cancelled for this and all pre Xmas excursions, boiler problems.

Anyone else baffled how a locomotive fresh from overhaul needs a re-tube?

 

Defective tube materials perhaps?

 

Probably because the scope of the previous overhaul work was quite limited. Now that there are more funds in the coffers, a lot of additional work is being planned in a second phase between now and next summer.

 

Where is the work being carried out?

 

Where does it say 6201 is being re-tubed?

 

May I suggest moderators move the comments on Princess Elizabeth to a new separate thread please? This discussion is far removed from the excursion to Salisbury

Under two days to departure and still no times from N.R. doesn't help passengers with a journey to Ashford. Fortunately mine is not too long!

 

I'm getting a sinking feeling about this one - nothing on RTT yet, which is much later than most steam runs of late.

 

A diesel drag down to Ashford? Or steam coming on in London? Any info?
