20 running nose first wouldn't bother me,

A pair of 20s is always good a pair of ex thornaby 20s be the best

 

Never seen or heard a 20 before.

I'd also recommend a trip to the SVR for 20188, that beast is LOUD!

 

So there's a steam working on Sunday on June 11th of the diesel gala, why? making it a mixed traction gala ? Why can't we have a weekend just for diesels.

Will go elsewhere where there is pure diesel.

 

I thought it was going to be an all-diesel gala. Where did you get this information from?

 

AFAIK the 'Dunster Castle Express' is shown to be steam throughout the summer so a steam service is needed to cover that

 

A slight note of caution for the organisers, assuming they are keeping an eye on the thread. A number of people have expressed the hope that D213/40013 might attend and it was certainly a very popular choice at the galas it attended in 2016.

The fly in the ointment would be that the CFPS have given advance notice of 40145 working on the mainline on both Friday 9th & Sat 10th of June so IF D213 was being considered for the WSR I'm not sure how much additional business it would bring in from 40 enthusiasts, most of whom have a long standing loyalty to CFPS events.

Not wishing to be a wet blanket here, and the CFPS proposal is not confirmed, but it would be doing neither organisation any favours if there was a clash. It would be superb to see Andania working on the WSR, but perhaps on another occasion.

 

The DCE has previously operated on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, and not on some Gala days or special events like Thomas.

On a railtour to north Wales, won't effect me wanting to see a class 40 in Somerset,

 

No but it will reduce the number wanting to travel to Somerset to ride behind a 40.
Personally despite living 40 minutes from the start of said tour I am more likely to be in Somerset for a western and two hymeks.I had heard of a 40 possibly visiting but not 13,and if it's part of on convoy on a circuit then may as well still do so.

 

The relevant quote from the latest 'news' item is:

'And finally some good news on the June Diesel Gala. Friday and Saturday next year will be an all Diesel
affair! The gala will take place over the 9/10/11th June weekend. Sunday will have one steam diagram.
Hopefully a really good gala in prospect with the return of D7018. '

This 'news' has not been circulated more widely yet, although the WSR Plc website is reporting the theme of the event to be '40 years of the DEPG on the WSR'.

That would not suggest a significant number of visiting locomotives.
