Gwsr Christmas cracker 29th-30th Dec

Thursday 29th and Friday 30th Dec will see the gwsr run the annual Christmas cracker mixed traffic event. Locomotives in use on both days will be gwr 2807 and 7820 dinmore Manor with 37215, 45149, the class 20 and the 117 dmu for the diesel side. Details and timetable on the gwsr website.

Quick question about the timetable - 2807 and 7820 appear to swap diagrams on Thursday and Friday. The timetable on Thursday looks good as both locos should be facing the right way when hauling trains, but when they swap diagrams, when they are hauling trains both will always be facing tender first! Is this right, or have I misread the timetable? Seems a bit of a shame as I was planning on visiting on Friday and rather cold for the loco crews!

 

I believe the steam crews will be provided with a hot fire to keep them warm in the cab.

 

Had a good time at the gala yesterday, although the steam locos did run the wrong way round all day! Some good noise from both locos through - see the videos. The diesels were quite nice too!
