There are certain conditions on what can and cannot be stored in the Carriage Shed. At present, there are several engines in there, but it is planned that the number stored in there should go down, not up. Besides, we need the room for rolling stock!

Is the railcar still taking up space? why not move that into the carriage shed, its most likily not going to progress until it becomes an C&W project, its taking far to long and progress is too slow, in the time i was in C&W, i lost count the wasted hours people put into it, its not a museum exhibit, where everything has to be 100 per cent as the GWR built them, i would stop work on it mothball it, to create space for either another vintage coach, or to bring in the 25 so it can be inspected in the dry before an decision
is made on the viability of it

A lot of these engines are high on running hours and perhaps tired.

Our GEC class 10 will maintain 10mph with 5 up the 1 in 80 in notch 3. Lighter gradients and it romps away to its max speed. I have not restored Notch 4 the final field weakening as its not needed and stops temptation. The 09 is noticeably affected by gradient more than the 10 for the same load which you would expect with engines of the same nominal output and differing gearing.

Well, Gervase took about 40 years between steamings, so they've got a bit of leeway yet....

Do you know, whether all shunters were actually safed from the scrapyard?
If not, did they eventually strip the locos of the spareparts (which went to scrap)?
These shunters form the backbone of the shunting locos in the preservation and the worth of the spareparts will probably rise in the coming years.

    Thank you in advance

Think you need to get facts right. That 08 will be running sooner than you think.

When the photo has that comment about the engine it dose sound like it will be unloved in its preservation days, so the comment should be changed or removed.

    Small update on 08757.

It was running 6 hours after arriving and was providing support duties over our Polar Express Train Ride at Christmas .

Radio gear has been tested and is working too.

Excellent work done by our Traction and Rolling stock team again.

It will be hauling passenger trains a week on Saturday
