Large Prairie 5164 Update

Hi all,
Having just joined the group I thought I'd bring anyone interested in 5164 up to date.

5164 is still in storage at Barrow Hill Roundhouse, and as far as I am aware will be staying inside the Roundhouse during the work on the roof.

I try to get up there as often as possible to keep the brass and copper gleaming and carry out small items of conservation work.

 

The boiler certificate expired in January 2014 and we are waiting for a slot in the overhaul Queue, as there is no covered storage available on the SVR she was shipped off to Barrow Hill in March 2014, initially for a year but now more long term.

 

seems reasonable, perhaps they need another Engine House?

 

An interesting exercise Id like to carry out is to see how many people with shares or other interests in 5164 there are out there, I know of some but it would be nice to find others..

 

Latest update on 5164, still at Barrow Hill, I went up in the weeks before it reopened and gave it a good polishing, rumour has it that it may be coming back to the SVR in 2018, but we have no date for an overhaul yet.

There are rumours that Hinton Manor is soon to be heading back from Swindon too. I wonder what is going to make space for them?
