It is interesting now people talk of a 5000ISO day when back in film days it was how to push process a 400ISO 'fast' film and the debate was how to minimise grain. I've just just finished processing a couple of pictures from a bad weather day with 70013 converting them to B/W and using Nik software to add grain to make them look more like a film print, it's a funny old world

Indeed you are right, on one level it is a valid picture, but I'd already sold myself the Sun-bathed scene in my mind's eye..........

I think it does too. Not grainy enough for a Gifford but it's a record of an historic event that captures the S&C in one of its less benevolent moods.

Anyone who goes on the S&C to take photos this time of year and post what has been seen so far deserves a pat on the back. Me error, well you see I was there and didn't have time to take any photos so big thank you to those of you who have posted

I will have a go at dialing in the grain later once I have downloaded Nik - many thanks Johnb - in the meantime, here is another that may well illustrate the S & Cs less benevolent demeanour, probably a dose of grain for this one too.

Funnily enough... I have a photo somewhere, taken on HP4 (yes, HP4!) with my Zenit E of my father and sister - then aged about five, maybe six - alighting from the footplate of 70013 when it lived at Bressingham on a typically dull summer day... and being HP4, there was no shortage of grain in that! Remember how HP5 seemed a revelation?

Well... despite some of the critics on here, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has posted photos and video of this occasion on NP: as I've remarked before, I've been working in a virtually dark room for three days and this has been a real window into the world outside.

Tomorrow I get to work in an area with a window....

    Funnily enough, I never tried XP1 - XP2 a-plenty.

Largely academic now as I'm thinking of selling all my camera equipment; I'll keep a couple of cameras for sentimental reasons, but I doubt they'll get used again.

I felt quite sad that it was all over as I left the evening train at the delightful Settle station and watched Tornado make a steady departure in the low light as it headed towards Appleby

The traveller opposite suddenly revealed her father was a mapping hero of mine .
Yesterday I met an ardent campaigner for reopening a nearby line.......

During the day it was service trains, watching Tornado at speed and viewing Ribblehead station /viaduct
Plus a visit to a huge cave complete with stalagmites and stalactites!!!
Plenty of spare seats on the 17.15 today which felt far closer to a 'real' train.Arriving at Skipton at 17.00 there was no queue or preboarding check so it was board ,sit where you wish in the 3 unreserved coaches( rare on mainline steam) and pay another £3.25 for a 20m run.
Several local people told me how welcome the event was after a v quiet time
Again, thanks for posting videos and photos which we have enjoyed a great deal- even grainy record shots!!...

Exif data, freely available to anyone, it's one way of proving copyright and also ownership.

You can either change your name to Roger Sawell or go into the menu and change it. lmao

You may want to amend your post - I'm not sure the previous owner will necessarily be delighted to have his e-mail address publicly broadcast.

Not sure it's a way of proving copyright? It's extremely easy to modify Exif data.

Totally agree Ray, an excellent day out in rather typical Dales weather, brighter at Appleby, full dull up Mallerstang,

Thanks for your suggestion re Appleby Castle which I've wanted to visit for years and now succeeded. Very interesting historically (Lady Anne Clifford etc) and the position above the river and with the moat and defences extremely atmospheric.

Thanks to the dozens of Northern, DBS and FoSCL staff who made it possible.
