So given that Kidderminster hardly counts as the far north, will the train be re-named the West Midlands Belle? :)

Out of curiosity, was the word "Belle" to describe a Pullman service used anywhere other than on the Southern Railway? The LNER trains seemed to use the word "Pullman" in its trains ("Tyne-Tees Pullman" etc) and the GWR and LMS don't appear to have been widespread users of Pullman services at all.

Not that I know of and unless someone can think of any more there were four of them, Bournemouth, Brighton, Devon and Kentish Belles, the latter introduced in 1948 was the Thanet Belle until 1951. The Southern probably made the most use of Pullmans, the odd coach appeared in the continental boat trains and there were the 6PUL EMUs on the Central Section.

The Brighton Belle name only came in when the 5-BEL electric units were introduced. Before that, the Brighton Pullman workings were known as the Southern Belle, at least from 1908 although I'm not sure how official the name was (I've never seen a picture of a train with a "Southern Belle" headboard). In LB&SCR days, when there was a Sunday Pullman working to Eastbourne, it was never called "Belle", just the Sunday Eastbourne Pullman. I can't think of any other "Belles".

Out of interest, was the 2016 fare decision a very late one, or changed during the season? I ask because I have a (paper) 2016 timetable leaflet here that says it was £19.00. Must admit I can't remember what it said at stations.

Ah, just realised I've got it wrong. 2016 was £19 and 2015 must have been £18.50 or £18 (I'm away from any old timetables/notes atm so will double check when I can).
I think the reason it has gone from £19 to £19.80 was that £19.50 didn't bring enough in for the budget and then there is the wish to avoid the £20 mark, hence the break from the multiple of 50p rule.

If this 2015 leaflet (PDF) is correct, it was also £19 in 2015 -- so no increase from then to last year. That fits, as I think I remember being pleasantly surprised by the lack of one. I can't remember what 2014 was, but I have a feeling it was £18.

In 2016 the SVR carried an estimated 252,330 (245,800 - 2015). This is rebased on passengers carried rather than tickets sold and so is more directly comparable to the era when shareholders were included in data.

And perhaps more directly comparable with the figures from other heritage railways?

Matt. It is a commercial/ contractual agreement which I doubt either party would want to be brandished around on here and left to speculation.

Fair point but as a member it's not something I'm happy about. Never mind there's 5 50's and 3 Westerns to 'enjoy' maybe time to cancel my membership.

Can anyone clarify if the carriage siding referred to is in the shed or outside. One of the rags referred to it as inside. Not leaping with joy if inside space taken. Outside fine.

A bit more info. The shed has four internal roads numbered 2-5, and is flanked either side by two uncovered sidings numbered 1 and 6.

Located outside the shed on road 1 (nearest the running line) is the Belmond Northern Belle. Located outside on road 6 (at the back) is the railway's carriage washer.

I was being a bit facesious as this is the third occasion the question was asked on social media. For those who are observant we do not hide the siding numbers..Each of the inside roads is numbered 2,3,4,&5 above each track

Many thanks for the reply. I think the rag I read suggested inside and that rankled a bit. It is important the outside spare space nature is emphasised if you are trying to raise cash for Bridgnorth at the same time.
