Is there a simple person guide to WTT. I'm confused, so once top+tail come from river Frome? The rear bulleid comes off, and front loco takes train towards swanage?

    Anthony,

Do not have the detailed workings to hand but the general gist is the following:

Loco A works xx:xx from Swanage. At Norden loco B attaches to the rear (Swanage End). Train then TnT to Frome river bridge.
On return working Loco A detaches at Norden and Loco B takes train to Swanage.

Loco C works XX:XX from Swanage. At Norden loco A attaches to the rear. Train then TnT to Frome river bridge.
On return working Loco C detaches at Norden and Loco A takes train to Swanage.

    And repeat....

Locos will be watering at Norden, well bit of a splash and dash.

    Hope the above helps

I was rather worried from the timetable that there would be T&T all day despite the presence of 80104/146, so I'm rather happy that the plan is to add the second locomotive at Norden to provide the power back to Swanage, whilst dropping the tail gunner off at Norden en-route. I'm not too fussed about the dearth of double-headers, as I've been to some galas where that was all there was on offer. Gets a bit tiresome after a while when you want to experience only one of the two locomotives on its own. This way, it means things will look a bit more realistic, too.

One won't hurt, but if every trip was, the novelty soon wears out and it's off to the nearest pub for a break.

All depends on which way they come off the low loader.

Looks like Swanage station to me Anthony.
I'm hoping that @Robin White can tell the story.

I chose this because of the passing similarity to Swanage.

This is the accident in 1948 when 'Duke of Rothesay' on the 21:50 Aberdeen to Kings Cross derailed at New Southgate.

The cause was identified as poor wartime track maintenance. Sadly the fireman was killed but no passengers were seriously hurt. The loco broke away from the train and slid for 100 yards or so.

I think my learned friend would agree that even if they were unloaded in the above unconventional manner, it would still influence the way they faced. :)
