Issue 144 is a bit of a special issue, as it covers the recent railcar event at the East Lancs Railway, which was the biggest DMU gala since the 2004 anniversary celebration at the Severn Valley. Understandably it has generated considerable interest within the movement and this issue of the bulletin is consequently the biggest ever produced!

A fascinating read, thank you. I remember one Bank Holiday Monday seeing a white with blue stripe set heading towards Peterborough (the service in question only ran on Bank Holidays) from Hitchin, I think and being very excited that I'd finally seen one of these sets!

Nice to see the progress on the Swedish trailer car at the NVR!

 

I must admit when they started on the power car at Nene Valley a few years ago I had little interest, like many UK enthusiasts putting it in the "foreign bin"...

Since then I've seen the owning group achieve rapid restoration progression that is the envy of many. After the powercar was well and truly transformed and returned to service, I went for a trip on it and was completely won over by it's quirkiness and difference to anything else.

After that, the news they'd imported a trailer to go with it was much more welcome, I too read the updates with interest and I'm looking forward to the trailer car's completion, as it's even more odd than it's sister what with it's bald looking non driving end! Will certainly be going for a trip on it once it's done...

More than can be said for the DMU shunted into a siding on the West Somerset Railway at Minehead as seen from the Rail cam camera.

 

Or the one on the NYMR at Grosmont.
