Most likely to sandwich the air braked mk 2 in an otherwise vac fitted consist?

I think you'll find that is a vac braked mk2. Which is why last year although 60103 went from York to London with it, they had to borrow Tornado's pob for the DBC operated inaugural trip to York.

You are wrong on both counts, the use of the Tornado coach last year was for reasons other than incompatibility of brake system, that was not an issue because it is air braked with through vac piping.

But Leander has the early br crest? I assumed it was either the kwvr five that Mr Riley looks after or the one that Mr Hoskings has bought?

44932 and 48151 both have later crests as does 45231.

A snippet of 10A insight there, better watch your back now!
Assume 44932 still in bits too then?
By a process of elimination therefore Sherwood Forester it must be. Corroborates a similar report last week too so it may be ready to resume its career but under new ownership? Given the new owners also now own Statesman which is operating the Fellsman out of Carnforth this year might it be 2+2?

Yes, I watched it leave and also saw 45231 later in the day moving up and down the yard. Most likely suspect!!

In connection with the "Strictly Bulleid" Spring Steam Gala, another arrival occurs on Tuesday 28th - 34052 Lord Dowding (actually 34046 Braunton) and support coach from Southall: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U ... 8/advanced
With 34081 92 Squadron arriving by road on Wednesday 29th there will then be 5 active Bulleids helping Swanage Railway commemorate 50 years since the cessation of steam on the Southern in 1967.
