Yes plan was to get the new frame to site and put side by side or one on top the other to mark out bolt holes and mark where brackets go then make the holes and fit bit to them before putting back onto chassis

Additionally, keep images and written records of the layout / dimensions, as well as marking out as Sawdust is suggesting.
Basically - belt, braces and baler twine !

You need to find out what is left in Scotland - you might just be in time.

he coaches may have been sold from Inverurie but few stayed close to the works. It was always the case that most went north and west, quite a few as far as Peterhead. There seemed to be more LMS than LNER vehicles left last time I was up there, but the LMSCA guys will probably have the most up to date info. I still think there may be good stuff to be had.

Hi Stuart - If you get it finished we could set you up with a brake column. We sold some parts very cheaply to someone else once restoring an inspection saloon who subsequently gave up, and asked me to put them on the Carriage Exchange at a more realistic price, and wouldn't sell them back at what he paid for them. (Ally frame droplights). This puts you in a bit of a catch 22 though, as without the parts your project looks a no hoper, yet folks are unlikely to help you with parts until you have built a body.

Door fittings like locks and handles there were/are many in Scotland, but unlike the LNER ones that used a 'rustless steel' for lock internals and handle spindles LMS ones rust badly, exploding the brass casings besides the other damage. I doubt that anyone has any spare window parts for Brass LMS sliding windows, whether they are wide sliders or square ones like BR, but later stock used Aluminium, and they are very similar and compatible with BR Standard/Bardic parts, not that those are easy to get. The windows may still be on this coach - http://www.carriage-exchange.org.uk/lmsckcc.jpg, details of it and location are on the database as still present in 2016, so similar to some inspection saloons AFAIK, though some inspection saloons were partly double glazed, including the quarterlights and sliders! We purchased door fittings off it from the owner. Some parts off this now in use! This the only body up there with sliding light windows in it that I know of. AFAIK in most cases originally LMS used Keroing for bottom rails, teak for side rails, and pitch pine for cant rails, and sometimes Oak for door horizontals for strength (hence why sleeping coach door horizontals usually rotten!), but they aren't all like that.

I still wouldn't do it though, there are many LMS inspection saloons, and they aren't that useful - I assume - as we have been offered several on very good terms. I'd use your underframe for a grounded body.
