Thanks Shep , not what I thought would happen as the units all passed me at line speed but I guess a 500 ton train might need to go slow .

Perhaps they slowed to allow the passengers to appreciate this piece of track?

Exactly what I thought and the whistles tend to support that.

local tv coverage on train interviewed some passengers, one group playing cards, whats the point of paying £220 to do that, beggars belief.

If you check on Story Rail, Eden Brow Project, it shows exactly why it slowed down .

    What a trip this was!
The large number of well wishers incl groups of children waving let alone the Story contractors viewing 60103 "opening" the stretch of track that they had been working on
At my hotel in Haworth every guest was travelling on the train whilst my waitress this morning had her boyfriend and his father very actively involved driving and firing on Friday and today
28 stewards and 800(!!??) bottles of wine. A lunch box and a cream tea box.......
    Well organised gift sales.
Quite exceptional and worth(!)every penny spent.
Standard only meant c540 passengers with every table laid up!! Most unexpected.
Stewarding and a v keen attitude were the highlights of a very special one off.
Never having had an A3 into Carlisle the sight of a 34A plate on maroon mk1...
As an 12 yr old I bunked 34A the night before 60103 worked its final KX to Leeds train(to Doncaster.)
Then it was an after dark view-- this time 54yrs later it seemed fresher and more relevant than ever ESP in the crucial task of restoring the S+C to public attention.
Returning to Haworth on a crowded 9 coach 90733 hauled train from Keighly running through gas/oil lit stations was a fitting climax.
    An 11 coach rake in Pl1 and 9 coaches in pl4 -- 1958 perhaps?!
KWVR did very well running this excursion with enormous support from NR Northern and crucially WCRC
    THANK YOU
    Ray Mason

No doubt the late Bob Cryer wondered what could ever top the "Railway Children" but did he ever imagine - or expect - this ?

60103 is firstly seen at Stainforth, Helwith Bridge, Angerholme (Behind fence) and Ais Gill ! The Northbound performance looked decent, though the A3 was clearly performing below par for the route on the southbound run, especially as it closed in on Ais Gill on the return ! Great to be back over the S&C !
