Indeed. Though will always try to race in and not get in the way. Nunthorpe was rather busy to say the least. Still, could be worse if I go out and buy a nice big padded flac jacket too.

 

Hoping that the work on 60009's 'bottom end' results in her making an appearance on the ELR over the forthcoming Easter weekend. Be nice to see her with a fire in her belly again

 

A wish that will doubtless be universally echoed.
If proven, and required, a call to the 22/4 CME cannot be ruled out?

 

Looking at the works 60009 was lit up last night .

 

Currently out on LE test runs.

 

Has anyone seen it & can confirm which way round it is facing? I have read it might be smokebox south facing out of Rawtenstall rather than the usual north facing.

 

Going to wander along to see it Monday, so hope all goes well. I've not seen an A4 in steam since Mallard when I was about 7.

 

The loco was definitely 'facing south out of Rawtenstall in the works...

 

Hope it all went well. I've a busy weekend ahead, but hoping to take time out and drive over on Saturday for a few hours.

 

Going by twitter reports the test runs were successful and No.9 will be operating services this weekend with 34092 over the ELR.

Reports from Facebook she on the 0930 diagram off Bury to Rawtenstall all weekend.

 

I assume the engine will remain facing Bury ?

 

She was facing south today.

"On disposal of the loco this evening, there would appear to be a defect with the outer firebox as such that our engineers will need to investigate as this is not associated with the recent repairs."

Aww that's a shame, especially as she seemed to be running ok today.

 

According to the ELR, 60009 has now been withdrawn for the rest of the Easter weekend. Shame.
