A full list of all Heritage Railways website is available HERE. This thread is for posting details on accomodation either on railways official websites or which you have found yourself.

For example, the Bluebell Railway has a designated page at http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/accom.html

Not listed is HMP Peterborough. Trustees may be allowed out during the day time and it's only 20 mins walk to the NVR station in P'boro'! Hopefully none of us will be using that particular "hotel" though.

For West Somerset Rly, the youth hostel at Minehead offers pleasant accommodation without breaking the bank. It is a fair uphill trek from Alcombe on the eastern noutskirts of town, though.

There used to be an ideally situated youth hostel at Crowcombe, just by the station, but now sold off for redevelopment. I miss it. I've found a superb B&B not too far away, but it's a small establishment and I don't want to end up finding it's fully booked when I want to stay, so I'll be selfish!

I always stay at the Whitburn Grange b&b in Bridgnorth. Lovely breakfast, 2 minutes from the station and close to the various delights of High Town. Lovely place.

Many railways can provide low cost accomodation for volunteers.

Also check out the "Where to stay" link at http://www.wsr.org.uk which lists 94 places to stay near the West Somerset Railway. There are also several camping coaches on the line for volunteers.

NYMR can usually offer free accomodation to volunteers at each of the 4 main stations.

    Accomodation near Keighley

Does anyone know of accomodation in Keighley, for the KWVR 40th anniversary Gala in June? Ive tried looking on the web but it is almost impossible to find accomodation that is actually in Keighley itself.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Accomodation near Keighley

Keighley's not really a touristy place. You could try here .... http://www.dalesgate.co.uk/hotel.htm but I've never used it. Most folk stay up around Haworth or Oxenhope. Alternatively try any where along the line to Skipton. Trains are every 15 mins, run until gone 11pm and are dead cheap.

Thanks for that the reason I said Keighley is because I want to go to the 40th anniversary gala in June but I will be using public transport.

As sheff has pointed out, you will not find much in keighley.

Haworth & Oxnhope are your best bets. If sticking to public transport, see if KWVR running trains that could get you to either of the stns, if not best bet will prob be local buses. Someone more local should be able to help with this

If KWVR trains are not running, there are good local buses http://www.keighleyanddistrict.co.uk/ to take you to Haworth and Oxenhope

Here's some of the accommodation that I have stayed at which I recommend when I visit heritage steam railways.

    KWVR - Haworth
    Woodlands Grange
    Rosebud Cottage
Both are near to Haworth Locomotive Depot

    East Lancs - Bury
    Rostrevor Hotel - excellent breakfast

    NYMR - Pickering
Bramwood Guest House - excellent breakfast, near town centre
