    Hello,

Does anyone have any Andrew Barclay spares or templates also is there anyone who can put the firebox end to the boiler together as it looks like previous owner was in the process of building a new boiler.

    Thanks in advance

Can we have some more information on the engine as there are a lot of different design engines AB built that has been preserved as your question for this engine is a bit vague. Once you put this information up you will hopefully get some more help.

Plenty of places can rebuild boilers; Ian Riley, South Devon, Severn Valley, Llangollen etc etc. Just have your cheque book ready.

Which Stuart hasn't donated to himself - obviously very confident in his project....

And then there's the other crowdfunding appeals:

    https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Saloon45036?utm_id=2&utm_term=9Nn72wrzw

    https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Cylinders?utm_id=2&utm_term=3kexZPq89

Neither of which Stuart has contributed to.

He has also removed (censored) comments from the Facebook page for the loco because a few members from here were questioning why he was appealing for funds for a privately owned loco....

Seriously Stuart, why don't you finish just one project and then people might actually start to have a little respect for you...

We have been here before with Stuart . He had long held an ambition to own rolling stock and a loco. The ambition is seemingly close although both can be considered as total basket cases

Facebook is sharing many of the same sentiments as expressed here especially in regard to his management style

Well I haven't donated through the funding pages but have outside of them for example I have paid to move saloon chassis and will pay to move the loco and I have paid for some work to be done on the saloon and for new wood for the saloon and will be donating to the group that will be helping out with work on the steam loco.

This from mission control today (Facebook). So it must be official then...

2352 will be moving to the tanat valley light railway towards the end of the year to be restored then used on the railway along with LMS Inspection saloon 45036

Short term she will be cosmetically restored while we locate/make the missing parts.

Long term aim is to finish off the boiler and return her to steam.

    ...
Please note all negative comments will from today be removed as there is no need for them.

A big deal for TVLR, their first loco. That could be significant and Stuart might get the assistance he needs to achieve his goal

Indeed, why dont we wish him well, time will tell if he is out of his depth hopefully there may be some older wiser heads at the TVLR to advise him, help him, at least he has said it will be cosmetically restored first, whist the LMS saloon is tackled i would urge him, to if he can to ignore the urge to pull the barclay apart, before the coach is done

I think the South Devon do quite a lot of small boiler repairs as successors to Pridham's, also there's H A McEwan up at Keighley.

Yeh of course time will tell like with everything will stay as complete as possible while I locate parts it will be good to have her running as tanat valley light railway lose two shunters possibly

Stuart, your personal style hasn't always gone down well on here but most of us do wish you well and in a sneaky sort of at I quite admire your confidence and willingness to spend money on two vehicles that most people would consider basket cases.

If I were you, I'd put 45036 on ice and concentrate on building a team working on the Barclay. There's a lot can be done for little expenditure to make it look better and activity on the ground begats activity etc.... People interested to work on a coach are fairly rare but everyone wants to work on a loco....

Cleaning the frames, repainting the wheels remetaling bearings, can not cost the earth on a small engine, remaking the lub runs, if the decision is that the Barclay is going to be worked on, overhaul the bottom end first, as the post by Reading General says, activity begats activity, and fund raising, can be done in stages, to match the work schedule, at first much is just cleaning and painting, checking parts , and making replacement iron work where its corroded, it may be the case that the inspection saloon is a harder restoration job one or the other, but in the case of the engine, you would have to overhaul the bottom end anyway, and i think that you may as well, if you are going to strip it to do a cosmetic job, if you can get the fund raising right, you might as wall do the mechanical work at the same time .
